British Drift Championship – Round 3

Saturday 2 / Sunday 3 July 2011 – Teesside Autodrome, Middlesbrough
Shane Lynch smoking up the rears.

My second visit to Teesside this year and we had blazing sunshine again. This time the sun was accompanied by searing heat. It was an absolutely gorgeous day weatherwise for the spectators, however the drivers were struggling a bit. As the day wore on and the temperatures rose they had to use the practice run before each battle just to slowly drive round the track trying to cool the engines. (more…)

The Art and Soul of BDC

Stephen Brooks last video for BDC

“This is my last film covering the British Drift Championship , shot throughout the 2010 season I hope it portrays just how special this series is. I’d like to say thanks to Paul McCallum and Mark Buckle for allowing me to shoot the championship over the past couple of years and giving me complete creative freedom to do what I wanted. I’d also like to thank all the drivers / crew / and supporters .. you make it what it is.  Some of these shots were provided by Al Clark from Trackday Films who covered the final round of the championship up in Knockhill. Thanks man :) ”…Awesome stuff!!!

Maxxis BDC round 4

Maxxis tyres on top in British Drift Championship

Come rain or shine Maxxis tyres deliver consistent performance and nowhere has this been more evident in recent weeks than at the last two rounds of the Maxxis British Drift Championship. Despite a day of torrential showers followed by bright sunshine the Maxxis MA-Z1 Drift’s performance at Lydden Hill, Kent, during round three helped Team Japspeed driver Shane Lynch take victory and with it the championship lead in the pro class.  Meanwhile, when the series moved on to Donington Park (July 10) for round four, the Maxxis tyre coped better than most with the hot weather and the heat levels generated by the challenging track layout. BDC is wide open as the series heads to Donington

Expectations are high as the Maxxis British Drift Championship travels to Donington Park this coming Saturday (July 10) for round four of the exciting series.

Tyre manufacturer Maxxis will be there to see the top drivers reassert themselves after the weather and car troubles made life difficult for many competitors during the previous round at Lydden Hill.  Torrential showers followed by bright sunshine had a major impact on the levels of grip available at the Kent circuit and the 2010 championship is wide open after Team Japspeed’s Shane Lynch stormed to the top of the professional class. Hot off the press from Maxxis…

Maxxis Drift tyres smoke to victory at Silverstone

At round two of the 2010 Maxxis British Drift Championship (Silverstone, May 23) Team Japspeed drivers Danny Eyles and Shane Lynch took first and second, after a closely-fought battle for honours around the sun-drenched Brooklands/Luffield complex, and the Maxxis MA-Z1 Drift tyre was the talk of the event. Both were delighted with the performance of the tyre, which is manufactured from a specially developed high temperature silica rubber compound and gives more grip as the heat rises, enabling drivers to carry greater speed around the course.  The tyre provides the lateral grip and mid corner acceleration that is essential to success in the high octane sport of drifting, yet it doesn’t delaminate or suffer from chunking but simply keeps going until no visible tread remains.  The MA-Z1 Drift also generates the all-important smoke that leads to valuable extra points from the judges.
