Drifting was always something in the "background" in my life through school, not nearly as important as it is to me today. I studied welding/metallurgy and video production throughout most of my school life, but focused on film in college and graduated as a broadcasting student. From there, all my efforts were put forth into drifting after I shot D1 GP in Chicago, Illinois, and less than a year later I'm sponsoring a Pro-Am series (Midwest Drift Union) for Formula Drift, and working for the Kenda/Mertzanis team all while I shoot for Garage Boso, Kenda, and Darren McNamara of Falken Tires. One way to summarize how I feel about drifting and where I am today is this: It's a family based motorsport. We help each other, we learn from each other, and when we have to be at 200% risk to win, you tend to get/give respect like any family does for one another. I love the sport, I love all the teams I work with or for, and I love everyone I get to be with at these events because they're my second family I never see.

Formula D, Irwindale Finale

My most recent work that was uploaded today! Big thanks to everyone who helped in my first year of FD filming!

Darren McNamara strikes out in Sonoma…

Dmac’s weekend in Sonoma seemed to be a tough one. I noticed Jay-rod (Jarod DeAnda) say a few times that he has had a tough time on this track, but I wasn’t to sure of it as his practice runs were very consistent and great. So none the less, I was expecting the best and was waiting to see who he was paired with in top 16….
And that “significant other” was Ryan Tuerck, who was looking sharp as anyone the whole weekend. The only flaw was in Darren’s follow run, which was him getting slightly to aggresive after the initiation into the tear drop. This allowed Tuerck to move on….

Darren McNamara takes third place at Formula D, in Washington.

So far this year for Darren, it has been either wreckers or checkers so a 3rd place finish was well deserved. From top 32 against Stephen Verdier, to Rhys Millen, then the ’09 champ Chris Forsberg, all were battles but it was the possible 1st/2nd place battle he had against Tanner Foust that was very heated. In NJ last round, Tanner pulled some shady moves and Dmac pushed him out of the way, automatically giving Tanner the win. But this, like NJ, went one more time with a clean finish. Unfortunately Tanner moved onto face Ryan Tuerck for the battle of 1st place. Darren went up against Takatori in his Drift Emporium S15 V8 and made the win look easy, taking 3rd place.

Darren took third, having Falken podium every event now. I wish Darren the best of luck in the series and will continue to shoot him along his Formula D path

An introduction from the states…

Hello to everyone from Driftbloggers.com! Allow me to introduce myself- the name is Mark Lenardon. I’m a media/photo/videographer in the U.S. and I shoot for a hand full of teams, drivers, and even a series. Currently I’m working with Garage Boso for their DVD, Dennis Mertzanis and Team Kenda/Mertzanis,Darren McNamara of Falken Tire, and the Formula D Pro-Am series called Midwest Drift Union (mdudrift.com). At heart I’m a drifter, but I think like a cinematographer…so none the less I combined the two once I graduated college less than a year ago. But without me getting to soft and babble on about things…here are some short things Ive filmed recently, including Dmac’s Falken Tour and Version 2 (AKA the classical version, opposed to the opposite featuring the Misfits) of the Wall Speedway, Formula D event.

Thanks and feel free to share your thoughts sometime!
